Meet the Correspondent: Sebastian Sievert

Sebastian is passionate about the arts and has experimented with many of its forms (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics) through academic courses and personal exploration. He particularly enjoys sketching because it not only invites the use of many different media and techniques, but also naturally leads to a greater awareness of one’s surroundings and presents opportunities to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds.

Since his discovery of Urban Sketchers, Sebastian has made sketching a regular part of his life. As a founder of Urban Sketchers Oʻahu, he helped organize and host 100 sketch events across the island – beginning at Magic Island in September 2014 and ending at Sky Gate in downtown Honolulu in July 2020. Playing a part in building a chapter of sketchers to share with and learn from has been a joy!

You can still find Sebastian in the USk community, sketching at events and/or posting online. If you happen to spot him bent over his sketchbook in a wide-brimmed straw hat, feel free to come over and say hello!

Happy sketching everyone!
